My obnoxiously loud Kenmore dryer

by Sabrina
(Nova Scotia)

I have a Kenmore Heavy Duty Dryer C110 8530080. Recently it has been quite obnoxiously loud and the drum appears to be sagging in the rear. I believe it is the rollers/bushings/bearings gone and needs replacing. My problem is I can't check it. I unplugged it and took the back off, only to be met with a steal encased area. I cannot see how I would be able to repair, or even see, anything that could be wrong. Do I flip it on it's back and access from the bottom? Or will I do more damage than good? I have previously fixed washer problems on my own, and feel confident I can tackle the dryer as well. I have the tools, but no idea how to figure out what is wrong..... Can anyone offer any advice?

IT is fixed!
by: Anonymous

I did just that! Previously I kept searching and searching and finally found how to take my specific dryer apart. I discovered it was the rollers, so I purchased some, and a new belt in case I broke the old one when putting it all back together. It was actually quite easy to fix. My 8 year old son helped me,and we were done in under 2 hours (with breaks to check on my other 2 children. Now my dryer purrs like a kitten, and when I first fixed it, I didn't believe it was really running, it was so quiet! Honestly, I have no training whatsoever in fixing things, but once I got the dryer apart it was so simple! The hardest part was gettting the drum back on in the right place. Thanks for the help here!

open the dryer

open it from the top! there are two screws by the lint mesh. Take them out, then pull the top surface towards you and off. that should work.
