Does the machine have a cutlery rack or basket? A cutlery rack allows you to sort things when you stack and a basket allows you to sort at the cutlery drawer. The racks are generally safer as you cannot accidentally stab yourself with a knife or a fork. (been there and done that several times!) Does the machine have fan-assisted drying? Does the machine have child-safe door locks that prevent those active little fingers from opening to see what the noise is? Does the machine have height adjustable top baskets so that you can fit in those tall plates and glasses. Check the machine for half-load or load-sensing options so that you can get maximum water efficiency. Before you make a purchase decision make sure that your dinnerware will easily fit in. Sometimes you might have trouble fitting in those lovely tall glasses and large dinner plates all at the same time. I suggest that yake one of each to the appliance shop with you to test this out. Do you want a hot or cold water connection or both? Always check whether a cold or hot connection is recommended for the particular dishwashing machine. If you intend connecting to hot water, then make a check on the recommended maximum hot-water inlet temperature. In some cases you might need to install a tempering valve if the water will be too hot. Always check the available space in your kitchen where the machine will be installed and also allow space at the machine back for ventilation. A small space at the machine sides will also assist in the dishwasher installation. Check that the machine filters are easy to remove and clean. Does your area have hard water? If so then your machine might need a salt dispenser.
