KITCHEN AID DISHWASHER TIPS

Please check out all these practical hints and advice when using your dishwasher, follow them and they will save you some money and major money if you need a high priced service engineer. Many people expect the dishwasher to perform miracles but it has it's limitations

Don’t pre-rinse your plates as this is really both a waste of time and a waste of valuable water. It is only necessary to scrape dirty dishes. Whats the point of having a dishwasher of you prewash the plates by hand.

Always face the dirtiest dishes in towards the centre of the machine for the best water spray exposure. This will maximise the cleaning of these dirty plates and of course position the least soiled plates at the outer points

Never overload the dish washing machine or nest the dirty dishes too closely together as the dishwasher water spray is not able to reach everything. You must be able to allow water spray to reach the plates of you will end up with poorly washed dishes as they effectively cant efficiently wash, this is often why people pre rinse dishes when the reasons are bad stacking of the machine not a defective machine

Do you get chipped plates. If you really want to avoid chipping of your nice dinner plates then please make sure that breakable plates and dishes do not touch each other and that the washer spray arm is able to rotate freely without touching them. The spray pressure can often bang dishes together so make sure they are seated firmly within the racks

Do not machine wash metal dishes with exception of stainless steel, or wash disposable plastics, or any gold coloured cutlery, or gold-leaf china, or knives with hollow handles or anything made of timber. Note that aluminum cookware may end up discolored. Read the washer manual for advice. I made that mistake with non stick pans also and a few other items.
