Kenmore-Washer Repair - The washing-machine will not reach the temperature setting or is too hot
1. If there is no heating at all the internal heating element may have failed. Some elements simply fail, some will cause a short circuit and trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse.
2. If the washer has a hot water fill line check that water is flowing and that the line is not blocked. Check the internal connection filter if fitted as this small insert often clogs up
3. The temperature control thermostat may be faulty and is a common fault
4. If the water is too hot and is over the required temperature this is usually a faulty thermostat.
5. The cycle timer or program circuit board may be faulty and while many suspect this as a first diagnosis the fact is modern electronics are quite reliable and its usually something simpler
Kenmore-Washer-Repair - The washing-machine will not drain
1. The lint filter on the pump inlet or suction may be clogged. Remove and clean this properly. When you do this you should be ready to clean up a lot of water spillage on the floor.
2. The water pump may be defective or be jammed with debris or clothing items (most popular items are socks, pantihose and fine underwear) and I have had to clear pumps on service calls on a regular basis
3. The drain valve may be seized. This is a very common fault and often is due to internal corrosion of metal parts or clogged with soap residue and hair or other debris
4. The drain line may clogged. Same reasons as above
5. The pump impeller may be broken or faulty. This happens and the pumps are not that robust and impellers are usually plastic
6. The cycle timer or program circuit board may be faulty
