kenmore washer and dryer

I have a kenmore washer and dryer - upright - the dryer on top of the washer. When I try to use both the washer and dryer at the same time it shuts off. I think it is tripping the power. I have to go and turn off the breaker box to get the dryer to reset. How do I go about fixing this??? It works fine if I wash a load and then dry it - I just can't wash and dry at the same time.
