Kenmore Side by side refrigerator

Model 105.57072791. Ice maker has been replaced. The valve solenoid was no good. Now, the arm lifter DOES NOT turtn the ice maker off. AND the ice has a foul taste. This refrig does NOT have a filter. The inside of freezer and refrig have BOTH been scrubbed. No food insiode is old. The water ersevoiur (sp) is working properly. The water tastes just fine. It'ds opnly the ice. the repair man says its cannot be fiixed.
There has never been bad tasting ice in 11 yrs. Now all of sudden.. yucky tasting ice. i am actually use ice terays, filling w water and emptying myself to have decent ice that doesnt ruin the taste of every drink. I'm pulling my hair out!
