Kenmore side by side refrigerator Model #106853670

My parents received a used Kenmore refrigerator over the summer. It was working for awhile then it started to not be as cold as it should be, then it stopped. We put a new control on it thinking it would work, but it is not. I need some info on what might be the problem. We do not have the money to go and buy and new one. Any ideas
