Kenmore Refrigerator Trip on GFI

by denise
(bel air, md)

I have a Kenmore Coldspot refrigerator built 04/01 on a GFI that keeps tripping. Electricians have told us that by code we have to have it on GFI. Repairmen have told us to take it off of GFI. Are there any codes in Maryland dictating what type of outlet we must use for a refrigerator? Is it a problem with the refrigerator that it trips a GFI?
