Kenmore Microwave Oven Model 565.8824581

I have a 20-year old Kenmore Microwave Oven that works perfectly well that came with the house. I just found a metal rack that fits perfectly in the microwave on hooks on the sides that seem to be there for some kind of rack. My question is, since I always thought that metal does not go well with microwave ovens, is there any possibility that this rack belongs to the microwave? It sure would be wonderful if it did, since I have not found the actual rack that goes in there.
