Kenmore dryer model # 11079732800

by Mark
(Baltimore)

My dryer timer stopped rotating and at the same time it would blow hot no matter what temp setting you put it on. I first cleaned all lint and it's venting fine. Secondly, I just replaced the operating thermostat and that did fix the overheat problem but the timer still didn't rotate on either the timed or moisture sensing cycles. I played with the timer knob ( moving it in or out) and one time it did move but I haven't been able to duplicate it. Also, the metal part of the timer gets very hot, don't know if that's normal or not. I'd appreciate any advise, I'm hearing that the actual timer usually isn't the problem but I'm starting to think the timer is my problem. Thank You
