Kenmore Dryer Burnt Smell

by Scott Parham
(United States)

Burned rubber smell from dryer. Kenmore electric dryer made by Whirlpool. Model #96374200 and is approx. 12 years old. Replaced drum belt, both support rollers, and idler pulley/drum belt tension spring. No visual damage to either the front or rear felt on drum. No plastic connections seemed damaged. So what to do next, I am at a loss? Thanks. Scott

Maybe you should check the pigtail connections on the back of the dryer where your cord is connected. Sometimes loose connections will cause heat and with long use burn the wire.

Possible Reasons

If all the seals and rubber bits are all okay then I would suggest you run and observe as very often bits of lint on the heating elements can burn,

Alternatively vaccum out all the lint.

Also with power off and disconnected check element terminations arent loose and overheating which sometimes causes overheating and wire insulation burning
