Repairing a Kenwood dryer is no different than any other dryer. In many cases this is because kenwood dryers are made by all the other manufacturers. In the majority of cases dryer faults are similar in all makes.

Kenmore-dryer-repair - The dryer will not start

1. Verify that the electrical power is switched on to the dryer. The power on indicator light will be illuminated. Sometimes the indicator light may also be faulty so never use this as the main check.

2. Verify that the front drum door is closed properly. When a door interlock switch is not activated properly the machine will not start. The best check is to open and close the door several times and sometimes the micro-switch may be sticking and some do come loose due to vibration

3. The dryer start switch hasn’t been pressed or turned properly.

4. The dryer program hasn’t been selected

Kenmore-dryer-repair – Dryer does not heat

1. The electrical circuit fuses or circuit breakers have tripped. If they blow a second time then you may a faulty or blown heating element.

2. Heating element thermostat is faulty.

3. Heating elements are faulty. In rare cases the wire connections may have burnt off the element. WARNING Do not open the rear access of the dryer until the dryer is unplugged!

4. Heating overheat cut-out switch has tripped out or is faulty. Some machines also have a replaceable thermal fuse that should be checked.

Kenmore-dryer-repair - Overheating

1. Thermostat Fault. Do not use the dryer until it is repaired. This is a fire hazard and also you may end up with your clothes shrunk to the size of a Barbie doll.

2. Filters are clogged with lint and should be cleaned. This is a fire hazard so check and clean regularly.

Kenmore-dryer-repair - No drum rotation

1. The front door is not closed completely. The door interlock switch must be activated or it will not start. Open and close the door to see whether it is sticking

2. Start switch has not been pressed or turned.

3. Clothes Drum rubber drive belt has stretched or failed. Verify that the drive motor is turning

4. Clothes Drum drive motor has burnt out windings. Usually this will start with excessive noise if the bearings are failing, the usual cause of motor failure, although dryers must have done a lot of work to get to this stage

5. Clothes drum is seized. This is causes by mechanical seizing or bearing seizures. It will start with excessive grinding noises first. Remove belts from the drum and it should turn easily by hand.

6. Seized idler arm and pulley, or the drum support rollers are seizing.

1. Excessive amount of clothes in the dryer

2. Clothes load is excessively wet (ie machine spin didn’t remove water)

3. Cycle timer or program circuit board fault

4. Thermostat fault

5. If multiple heating elements, one or more may have failed

6. Lint filter is clogged

7. Outlet vents and ducting may be obstructed or clogged

8. Moisture sensor if installed is faulty

1. Heater is not coming up to temperature. Thermostat or heating elements could be faulty

2. Air ducts may be blocked.

3. Lint filter or screen may be blocked.

4. Dryer settings or the control switch are set incorrectly

5. Blower fan is not operating

6. Clothes drum belt is slipping and the drum is turning slowly

Kenmore-dryer-repair - Dryer Makes Excessive noises

1. The drum rollers, glides or rear clothes drum bearing, or the idler pulley, or the blower wheel may be worn or out of adjustment

2. Blower wheel is fouled with lint

3. Drum is misaligned. Check the drum is properly aligned
